You Missed the 2009 Edition?
Missed your chance to attend the 2009 Edition of the benefit concert «iEsperanza» ?
Well then, allow me to bring you up to speed:
We are pleased to confirm, for a second consecutive year that the benefit concert dedicated to the Mission was yet another triumph! Event organisers were generous and the artists were in high gear to perform at the March 21st 2009 Edition.
Before a full house, 55 artists charmed the audience with acclaimed performances combining a wealth of talent masked with mixed emotions and overtones of humour. The program featured various presentations pleasing one and all and offered a variety of song and dance routines that alternated between rock and opera! The newest addition to the iEsperanza ! production line-up, featured brilliant choreographies that highlighted the evening’s success. The audience was treated to spectacular baladi dances and was as equally enthused by the Hip Hop choreographies. Thank you to the talented group «Corps et âme en mouvement» and as well, to “M Studio” for their magnificent participation. |

Mrs Élise Guilbault generously accepted to be master of ceremonies for a second time and once again, she distinguished herself. This remarkable lady is not only recognised by all for her warmth and sincerity but also for her spontaneous interaction with the artists and the audience. She is an accomplished and skilled performer and a real coupfor ou ¡ Esperanza ! production. It was such a joy to be reunited with her once again.
We were also honoured and pleased with the participation of Mrs Natalie Choquette. She kindly accepted to grace our stage and rendered a stunning performance that significantly contributed to the show’s successful outcome. She shared her undeniable talent with us and even intertwined her sense of humour as she invited at random choice, an audience member to join her on stage to dance with her as she performed her rendition of "Habarena". Through her sensitivity, Mrs Choquette even presented Dr Elaine Martel with the gift of interpreting a rhythmic song which she executed so brilliantly and which remains a Mexican favorite. It was simply a magical moment... |

As the evening progressed, spectators were also charmed by Marc Angers. This young man has quite a stage presence as a talented violinist, singer and singer-songwriter. Marc’s musical deliveries were just superlative and backed by an ensemble of outstanding musicians. Although, he is known for his dynamic energy, he also proved to be a versatile interpreter as he performed emotional compositions from his new album (that you just have to buy!) and each one was as equally moving as the next. On violin, he also accompanied other artists. Bravo Marc!
Catherine Bessette, better known as Anouchka De La Pétarade to a younger audience, offered different interpretations, one of which was a medley from the musical comedy, Starmania, written by Luc Plamondon that explored the possibilities of her beautiful voice. This young woman knows how to capture her audience and we will most certainly hear of her in the very near future. |

The evening would not have been complete without «Les amis de la Mission», a talented group of singers that included, Bernard Desroches, Rémi Carrière, Éric Gagnon-Pilot, Jean-François Grenier, Carole Poirier, Manon Turcotte and Lucie Martel. They owned the stage as they presented various vocal arrangements in both classical and popular styles. Also drawing the audience’s attention were two fabulous duos consisting of Bernard with Carole and then Bernard with Manon.

For her part, Elaine Martel never ceases to amaze us! It was indeed a pleasant surprise to witness firsthand, her versatility in a rhythmic baladi choreography. Then again, her interpretation of cross-cultural musical compositions which by the way, she performed in different languages, allowed her to reach yet another summit of her talent while overwhelming the crowd. Mrs Guilbault, our master of ceremonies, expressed to the audience: "Dear patients of Dr Martel, you will never see your doctor from the same perspective again". At that very moment, the entire audience burst into laughter! BRAVO Elaine!!
The School of Dance, «Corps et Âme en mouvement», located in Longueuil under the expertise of choreographer, Mrs Claudette Biron, added a particular brand of flavour and color to the program by introducing dances of Middle East origin while images of a dry desert reflected in the background. The choreography alone, revealing each dancer wearing a beautiful veil of Isis and accompanied by Elaine, was by far and by itself, worth the time and the trip to the auditorium!

Last but not least, the twenty-five young dancers from M Studio (also of Longueuil) were a delight to watch as they performed engaging Hip Hop dances. The choreography was a dance composition with a blend of emotion and conveyed messages. This number was entirely orchestrated by none other than Myriam Ouellette. These young aspiring dancers were appreciated by all and particularly by the younger portion of the audience.
The transition from one performance to another was harmonious thanks to the coordination and expertise of Mrs Carole Viger. We are grateful and sincerely thank her for her enthusiasm through the entire organizational production of this show.
And at last, we wish to express our appreciation to our sponsors (as referenced per logos on attached page..) for either donations offered to the Mission or for door prizes won by appreciative audience members. |
